With 2011 quickly coming to an end, I thought it only fitting to sit back and go through the many wonderful cakes (and of course weddings!) that I was a part of this year. Each couple and cake were so unique and different in their own ways, that I could never pick just one as my most special but here is a collection of my favourite images that chronicle this past year.

Of course everyone wishes for perfect weather on their wedding day but who could have dreamed that on Thanksgiving weekend of all days, that it would be as sunny and warm as a July afternoon! This weekend I had the pleasure to create a four-tiered cake for Jennifer and Karl at Chateau des Charmes in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and it was so nice to be a part of such a unique day!

The theme of the day was peacock blue and feathers, so we incorporated a navy blue ribbon and fresh orchids to finish off the cake.

There is so much inspiration that can be drawn from Niagara, from the gorgeous views of Lake Ontario, to the vast vineyards and orchards and not to mention the amazing wines and local culinary talents! For Nadia and JC, they wanted to capture some of that natural rustic charm that is Niagara in their cheese cake at The Pillar & Post on September 3rd. With their reception in the Upper Canada Hall, this 3-tier creation, fit right in. Included we have Ilchester Applewood Smoked Cheddar, Monforte’s Toscano and Upper Canada Cheese Co. Comfort Cream.

Anna & David – August 13.2011

It was so great to have the chance to work with Anna & David on their wedding cake for their August 13th nuptials. Being English, if there was to be anyone who understood how unique and “one of a kind” these cakes are, it’s them. This concept is nothing new to them, as cheese cakes are ALL THE RAGE in the UK, but boy-oh-boy did they do their research! After months of tasting, and tasting, they came up with this amazing combination of: Comtomme, Niagara Gold, Chevalier Triple Creme and Comfort Cream. We also included a small piece of Igor Bleu in the late night spread.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of creating a cake for a fun and unique couple, Julienne and Paul. Their reception was in the rustic and charming Upper Canada Hall at The Pillar & Post Inn in Niagara on the Lake. I have always loved this venue for the simple reason that it almost feels like our cakes are meant to be there, like they fit right into the atmosphere and feel of the property.

Shawn Taylor : Niagara Wedding Photographer, captured the big day and here are a few shots of Julienne & Paul creation. Their cake included: Raclette, Toscano, Comfort Cream and Rondoux with floral accents thanks to My Bouquet.
